Sleeping under the stars.

We now no longer camp as for a night, but have settled down on earth and forgotten heaven. ~Henry David Thoreau

Have you?

Do you want to?

I did, once … August 2007.

On Kneeland Mountain (7,000 feet) in Humboldt County/Northern California, for 5 breathtaking nights.

With nothing but a blow up mattress, pillow and a sleeping bag.

Found memories of a change of clothes each night before hunkering down and my face frozen to the pillow each morning. I can barely visualize, even though I lived it, that a girl from the suburbs actually relieved herself, more than once, in the bushes while enormous eagles were circling overhead for a quick snack.  It’s almost mystical, or hysterical.

It’s so cool that I can say that I did it! It was really one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

If there is a next time?  A picture really is worth a thousand words!

Have a great weekend!

Our spot was on the ground outside of the camper. Cheyna had the tent.
