A Rose By Any Other Name

“We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box.”

A nickname is a name that one is called in place of one’s real name.

When my father met me for the first time his words were, “my little Sugar” and it stuck.

My mother obviously didn’t think so … Mara Lee was typed onto my birth certificate.

The meaning of the name Mara is Sea Of Bitterness or Bitter Herb. It is a form of the name Mary and is Hebrew in origin.

What were my parents thinking?

To make matters worse, my mother always called me Sugar, unless of course she was mad at me and then out came the high pitched … Mara Lee.

Living with two identities has been an interesting ride so far. Different groups of people call me different things:)

So where do you go to find cool nicknames for social networking or otherwise? Glad you asked!

Come to think about it … I lied to my friend Tilly Evan Jones …  I do have an alter ego:)

Here’s to another day to get it right, cheers!

Oh look theres a bunny
there's that bunny again...
