Daily Distractions and Time Outs

Trying to organize the studio and decided that if I just glue everything to something else, it will take up less room.

This is what happened in April.

Recycled Art – Vintage China & Glass

Trunk up for Good Luck!

recycled glass art

Somehow these 3 vintage plates ended up together, along with a crystal candlestick and 2 glass bud vases. Think the snack pics added a nice touch. Sort of a Mackenzie Childs vibe … may have to keep this one.

Finally finished a glass on glass window, that I glued a ceramic tile to 6 years ago, and she ended up as the “Goddess of the Boobies”

and …. these 4 little pieces just screamed to be stuck together. For eternity. Unless you drop it.

Decoupage and Mosaic Tile

Easy Mosaic Tile Glass Collage – Crash Glass-Decoupage

Decoupage was my first love and after attending a crash glass class using a 2-part epoxy … it got me thinking … why go to all the trouble working with toxic adhesives when I can do the same thing with Weldbond.

Feeling it!

Painted the trivet and let it dry overnight.  Glued the paper to the trivet with Weldbond and let it dry. Don’t get carried away with the glue. Just brush on enough glue to attach the papers and let it dry before adding a couple more layers of glue, letting it dry each time.

laying out the design

When the papers were dry, I glued the tile border with Weldbond. Then filled in the rest with the glass by smearing Weldbond onto the back of each glass piece so it won’t puddle and refuse to dry clear.

the secret is to let stuff dry

Once the piece is glued and completely dry, grout it to finish off the piece.

A great non-toxic glass collage and decoupage project, that anyone can do!

kinda wish I hadn’t sold this one

Beautiful results with less mess than other epoxy crash glass methods.

Weldbond

Weldbond says this about their wonder glue …. A unique product, WELDBOND is more than an adhesive. It’s also a powerful universal primer for porous surfaces. It’s a weather-proofer, dust-proofer, hardener, and bonding agent. Just mix WELDBOND with sawdust, grout, cement or plaster and be amazed at the tremendous strength this product! Non-toxic and dries clear – in most situations – making it a perfect adhesive to use when crafting with kids. Dries to a clear, flexible bond most of the time.

Mastic

Mastic is a non-slip high performance, smooth spreading mortar formulated for interior installation of all types of ceramic wall & floor tile. Mastic keeps things from slipping … especially good for concrete, back-splashes and larger projects!

Thinset

Thinset is an adhesive mortar made of fine sand, cement and water. It’s best used to attach objects to concrete, stone and cement. Perfect for mosaic art outdoor applications.

Gluing takes patience.

Wait until it dries.
