Random Jar Challenge – Earth Tones

How’d it go?

Well … I stared at the pile for weeks and right before bailing & failing,  I researched earth tones instead.

Earth Tones

Circa 1970  filled with muted and mellow nature shades in brown, avocado green, harvest gold, wood paneling, macrame, indoor plants, shag carpet, groovy boots, polyester leisure suits and Save the Earth signs.

irony © mara leeFunny how that works … laid out a design with ceramic tile, pennies from the US and Canada, a vintage brooch, gold tile, ball-chain, green and orange glass tile, a metal washer found on the side of the road, orange bead, saw-tooth hanger on back painted gold, 3″x3″ inch mirror and will eventually be listed at the shop.

To all appearances, the artist acts like a mediumistic being who, from the labyrinth beyond time and space, seeks his way out to a clearing. – Marcel Duchamp

Clutter Dust

The polar vortex  taught me that a little house with to much stuff, mixed with dog hair, firewood crumbs and an overworked fireplace cannot and will not stand, man.

Stuff needs to be off the floor, easy to move and quick to dust or what’s the point?

I will prevail … once it warms up.  :)D

Six Sugar Bowls

There are certain objects spared from the shard pile … this oversized vintage sugar bowl is one of those things.  Never had the heart to break it and it’s so big – for a sugar bowl –  plus it reminds me of Mackenzie-Childs meets Alice in Wonderland. vintage sugar bowlPretty sure this is a Victoria Austria sugar bowl in brilliant White and Gold Porcelain Oversized Sugar Bowl with Lid, regal Gold Trim and Scalloped Edges. Unable to find out more information about the makers mark on the bottom of the sugar bowl but I did find a sold out listing – for what looks like the same sugar bowl – on replacements.com. A bit more research lead me to believe that this piece may be Victoria Porcelain Schmidt & Co Bohemia sometime in the early to mid 1900’s. Beautiful condition with no chips or cracks, some shelf marks on footer with minimal fading gold.

After deciding to sell everything that won’t fit in 973 square feet,  I had to choose one – and only one – sugar bowl for our little home, this vintage cutie didn’t make the cut … literally;) and it’s On Sale Now in the Shop.

vintage-sugar-bowlVintage Sugar Bowl measures approx 6 1/2″ across – from gold handle to gold handle x 5″ high to top of lid x 3 1/4″ deep.
